Hello there,

Today was the last day of the European Youth Ultimate Championship for all the volunteers. Today started with at 9 o’clock with breakfast for the last teams and the volunteers. After breakfast, the last teams went back home and then the cleaning up started. All the tents, benches and tables were cleaned up and also the catering started with packing their stuff to go home. As I told yesterday, there was planned a small HAT-tourney for all the volunteers, but since there had been a lot of rain, and most of the volunteers either had gone or were still enjoying their hangover from the yesterday’s party, the organisation decided to cancel the tourney. Instead, the volunteers decided to clean up their tents and leave. At 12 o’clock, I was picked up from Veenendaal, which marked the ending of the tournament for me.
I really enjoyed my time during the European Youth Ultimate Championship 2017 in Veenendaal. I learned really a lot, not only about frisbee, but also about different cultures and I am sure that I have developed and improved my skills on both social and psychological area. A good example of this is, that I really feel more comfortable in speaking English and I believe that I really improved my English during this week. During the week, I enjoyed seeing a lot of cultures and people together, only connected through one sport, and I thought it was very interesting to see how all these cultures lived alongside each other. As I told a few days ago, I also enjoyed seeing that players were able to remove the competition of the tournament and tried to make new friends from different countries. Throughout the week, I thought it was really nice and interesting to work together with people from abroad, and to see their way of finding solutions to problems. To add to this, I liked to see how these people were very eager to get to know the Dutch society and culture. A good example of this is a boy from Slovakia who wanted to learn how to cut cheese with a ‘kaasschaaf’ and the way he tried to get used to working with such a new tool.
During the past days, I learned a lot about frisbee. Before the tournament, I hadn’t seen one single match of this sport, but by watching a few matches, I started to learn the rules and get to know some tactics and throws which were used during the games. Due to this, I started to enjoy watching the matches and thus the sport.
As said before, I really liked my time in Veenendaal and I am very glad that I decided to help during this amazing tournament, and thus be a part of this incredible experience.

Thank you very much for following my blog and see you later!!
